Senior Attorney
The candidate provides legal advice and counsel on behalf of the Federal and State Government and Industry Affairs group. Collaborates and aligns on strategy, action planning, and communication with client, business units, and other areas of L&R. Proactively counsels clients on emerging legal issues and risk. Counsels clients on strategic initiatives, and serves on project teams as needed to provide legal advice. Reviews and delegates new matters. Provides project management, coordination, and collaboration between legal teams within L&R and with business clients. Conducts research, substantive drafting, reviewing, advising, and negotiating for more complex matters. Provides budget oversight. Provide coaching and performance feedback. Prepare position papers. Identify appropriate legislative/regulatory opportunities and identify Allstate legislative and regulatory priorities. Consult with business units regarding political and regulatory implications of existing or new programs (including conscious choice meetings). Consult with business units, attorneys, outside consultants to understand implications for Allstate. Keep senior leadership and law department leaders apprised of evolving political developments and impact on advocacy. Advise/accompany senior management and business units on legislative/regulatory visits. Draft, circulate, and socialize draft bill amongst interested parties (both internal and external) for internal consensus and to determine impact. Determine communication strategy and distribute reports, etc. to business units, legal, and compliance. Deliver internal and external presentations related to Legislative and Regulatory Developments / Changes Monitoring and Education. Develop and identify supportive coalition partners related to issue advocacy and lobbying. Participate in Staff Board/committees/ working groups that have implications for Allstate and chair as appropriate. Prepare timely new law reports. Determine which trade associations to participate in and to which financial degree. Counsel/prepare business clients that are involved in trade association activities. Work with trade association staff to identify issues of interest to Allstate and determine degree of Allstate involvement and visibility of issue. Attend and participate in hearings. Attend committee meetings and conference calls. Review and edit materials, provide comments and recommendations, and provide amendments to trade association staff. Draft corporate involvement in political arena report. Prepare ALLPAC and / or corporate contribution. Interview law firms/retain law firm. Review litigation strategy. Review trial strategy. Assist in witness preparation and attend depositions. Draft and review communication with government agencies. Negotiate with government agency. Keep business unit management advised of case progress. Attend court at major arguments (motion to dismiss, motion for summary judgment and trial). Review/comment upon all draft/revised/final pleadings. Manage, negotiate, and advocate external response with appropriate. Communicate with and counsel clients on status, results, and potential process change/corrective action. Identify, prepare, and present witness. Review client responses to examiner requests for information. Review and analyze draft Report on Examination and prepare response to draft report. Review and analyze proposed stipulation/consent order. Counsel client on actions to be taken resulting from exam findings/recommendations. Review insurance holding company act registration statement and amendments. Serve on compliance project teams as needed to provide legal advice. Determine and implement strategy for resolving compliance issues (e.g. engagement with DOI and/ or regional counsel). Performs and oversees sophisticated legal and factual research and investigation to formulate legal opinion, identify risks and propose alternative courses of action on larger matters or topics of operational significance to the organization. Communicates views effectively orally and in writing and represents position to others internally and externally. May be assigned lead responsibility for larger projects and assignments involving management of others.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
