Insurance Claim Scrubber

The claim scrubber is responsible for ensuring all claims submitted are coded accurately and appropriately.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Integrate coding from patient medical record to billing PM system.
Identify coding submitted by physicians and scribes and compare to drug inventory logs.
Ensure claims have correct CPT codes, modifiers and accurate coding based on medical record documentation.
Act as a liaison between billing and clinical staff to ensure accurate claim coding.
Add coding mistakes to Scribe Error Log and ensure scribes correct all errors prior to claim submission.
Monitor Missing Slips report to ensure all encounters have timely claim submissions.
Assist Billing Manager/Supervisor with holding claims for internal audits.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years' previous experience as a medical biller/coder or in a related healthcare administrative position.
Previous experience with Athena, a plus.
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of billing software a plus.
Strong customer service skills and comfortable answering both patient and insurance company questions.
Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
Positive and professional attitude.
