Medical Assistant-Downstate
The incumbent of this position will be assigned to the EHS Downstate Nursing Clinic to provide coverage to Hauppauge Clinic three days per week and Brooklyn Clinic two days per week. The primary duties will include:
o At least 60% travel to offsite locations throughout the State. o Conducting medical diagnostic tests using a variety of equipment, including blood pressure cuffs, vision machine (ortho-rater), hearing machine, electrocardiography (ECG) machine, and spirometer (pulmonary). o Calibrating and adjusting instruments, and recording test results independently. o Phlebotomy experience is preferred. o Obtaining urine samples for drug testing, including a chain of custody forms, and assisting with the packaging of blood specimens. o Filing, copying, data entry and other clerical tasks.

Salary Range:
From $34831 to $42895 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Reachable on the Medical Test Assistant eligible list . completed an approved Medical Assistant Program (see Note 3) which is a minimum of one year in duration; Or 2. completed an approved Medical Assistant Program (see Note 3) which is less than one year in duration AND post Medical Assistant Program experience in a clinical/health care setting that together equals at least one year; Or 3. a license, limited permit, or be eligible for a limited permit to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State or Licensed Practical Nurse certification. Appropriate part-time and volunteer experience, which can be verified, will be accepted on a prorated basis. 2. New York State residence is not required. 3. Your program must be accredited through the New York State Education Department (either as a higher educational institution or through the Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision), the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
